This is a collection of other recordings by Kegel featuring Bruckner. All are from the 1960s, and it’s clear that during this period, he was deliberately aiming for a sharp, incisive sound. The Symphony No. 4 was recorded live during a performance at the Komische Oper Berlin; the sound engineering is particularly interesting. The Seventh Symphony also features a solid approach that’s completely different from the 1971 recording. The Ninth Symphony is an intense performance that’s just as compelling as the 1975 recording; this, too, can be called a masterful performance in true Kegel style. Muse Trading
