Maya ongaku's first album "Approach to Anima", which made its world debut at the end of May on the Amsterdam-based label "Guruguru Brain", headed by "Geometric Patterns", is now available on CD in Japan! / Guruguru Brain / Bayon Production, Maya ongaku's debut album "Approach to Anima" builds a basic groove while bringing out their innermost soul. Sonoda's supple guitar and vocals, Takano's undulating bass lines, Ikeda's floating woodwinds, and delicate percussion and synths create an atmosphere that is at once assertive and abstract, calm yet disturbing. The slow saxophone of "Approach" is an introduction to maya ongaku's world, while "Water Dream" seems to float toward the calm finale of "Pillow Song.It succinctly condenses their many interests and influences, including where contemporary art such as Neo Dada and Fluxus intersected with the development of recording technology in the late 1960s. As the title suggests, Approach to Anima is not an endpoint, but only the beginning of an exploration. A trio of childhood friends, maya ongaku is always looking beyond the idyllic yet rapidly gentrifying Enoshima, and maya onagku's free worldview will show us the unseen, expand the possibilities of the naked eye, and give us a sense of the unbridled vitality of their music.
