Along with steel guitar and ukulele, falsetto (back voice) singing has become a major characteristic of Hawaiian music. It is the most important singing style that creates the atmosphere of Hawaiian music, regardless of whether the singer is male or female. This compilation focuses on this unique singing style, and was produced with the concept of looking back on the history of this style while enjoying vintage recordings by the masters in this field. The music selection and commentary is by Yuki Yamauchi and Katsunori Tanaka, who introduce the best performances on SP records, which are difficult to find nowadays, with detailed commentary. Of course, the collection also includes the rare performance of Lena Machado, the "Hawaiian Songbird," as well as recordings of male virtuosos such as George Kainapau in their heyday. Originally released in 1999, the album has been remastered and reissued at a lower price.
