I have heard her recitals in the past centered on works such as Ravel’s “Jeux d’eau” and “Miroirs,” and she is by no means the type to drive the music forward with dramatic fluctuations or wide dynamic ranges. The essence of Yukari Arai lies in her delicate lyrical expression and her portrayal of subtly shifting mental landscapes. She meticulously and artfully carves out the intricate nuances of human emotion and introspection. In “Jeux d’eau,” her sense of movement and crystalline touch, and her refined sensibility offered a glimpse of her deep affinity for Ravel; above all, her depiction of Ravel’s melodic motifs and Japanese-style color palette transforming with boundless freedom vividly demonstrates Yukari Ni’s remarkable potential.
