Marie Nishiyama

Description:

An album brimming with elegance and virtuosity by Marie Nishiyama, a leading harpsichordist in the early music world, has arrived! Royer (1703-1755) served as harpsichord teacher to the children of the French royal family and acquired the right to manage the Concerts Spirituels. He served as Director of the Royal Chamber, conductor of the Royal Music Academy orchestra, and composer, ranking among Paris's most influential musicians of his time. Royer's harpsichord collection, published in 1746 and dedicated to Louis XV's daughters, showcases rich emotional expression, resonant singing, and supreme virtuosity. His masterpiece, "March of the Scythians," employs every conceivable technique, unfolding an endless fantasy in a truly magnificent piece. Dufly (1715-1789), who died on July 15, 1789, the day after the storming of the Bastille that triggered the French Revolution, focused solely on the harpsichord, believing organ playing ruined the fingers. He flourished as a master harpsichordist and renowned teacher.Bright, brilliant, and expansive, the Chaconne; the Three Graces, depicting three goddesses from Greek mythology; and the charming yet refined French Baroque dance piece, the Menuet, composed of two small minuets—Dufly expresses the delicate sensibility characteristic of the harpsichord, standing as one of the musicians symbolizing the end of Rococo culture. 'Royer, Dufly'—it would be no exaggeration to call these two the "last fireworks masters" who shone with an intense brilliance within the French harpsichord school. (1/2) Naxos Japan
