All seven works on this disc, titled Madeline Mitchell's "VIOLIN MUSE," are world premieres. Each of the works, including Michael Nyman's simple and beautiful "Taking it as Read," as well as works by Harrison, Matthews, and other leading British composers, were written for Mitchell and show how much inspiration she provided to these composers. The "Piano and Violin" is basically for piano and violin. Basically, the pieces are for piano and violin, but only Pugh's piece is a concerto. As the title suggests, it is a meditative and beautiful piece. Naxos Japan
