Description:
As of 2017, bass-baritone Michael Follett is an active bass-baritone singer around the world. The role of the bass-baritone in Wagner's works is to control the entire work and give it a complex character. The bass-baritone's voice is different from that of the tenor who plays the hero, and requires a different kind of charm. Since his youth, Folle has sung Wolfram, Amfortas, and Sax, and is already recognized as the "best Sax singer" at Bayreuth and the Metropolitan Opera, but recently he has been working on Wotan (Wanderer) with excellent results. During a visit to Japan in 2016, he happily said, "I love singing Wagner, but actually I don't have many arias, so when I sing all of them, it's just enough for one CD, and I recorded it," and that album is finally here. Please listen to the confident Wagner under the direction of Fritsch, who is also the music director of the Kiel Opera House. Naxos Japan
