Lehar's comedy "The Count of Luxembourg" had its world premiere in 1909 at the Theater an der Wien, conducted by the famous conductor Robert Stoltz, and was an immediate success, with the theater giving 300 repeat performances. This record is comparable to that of a modern musical. It has a familiar melody, a delightful story of the lives of aristocrats and artists, and, above all, a happy ending. Often performed in the modern era, this recording features the remarkable tenor Daniel Behle and veteran singer Camilla Newlund in a wonderfully witty exchange, and the performance by Korean-born female conductor Kim Eun-Sung.
