VIOLIN CONCERTOS

Description:

Opera performances at the Salzburg Festival are a traditional practice, and many operas were premiered at the festival, including one by Richard Strauss, who was closely associated with the festival when it was founded and actively performed his own works. Kushenek's opera "Orpheus and Eurydice" was composed in 1923 and first performed in the U.S. in 1926, but this 1990 recording was made in honor of Kushenek, who had lived through a period of turmoil and was celebrating his 90th birthday. Kusenec, who lived through the turmoil of his life and celebrated his 90th birthday. Shortly before Kusenec began this work, he had met Mahler's daughter, Anna, and had been asked by her mother, Alma, to write a supplement to Mahler's "Symphony No. 10". Naturally, he was also interested in Oscar Kokoschka, a painter with whom Alma was in a relationship. The opera uses a libretto transcribed by Kokoschka around 1915-1917.Although the subject matter itself is the classic "Orfeo e Euridice," Kokoschka created a rich story that reflects his "intense love and hatred" for Alma, with whom he was in a close relationship at the time of writing. Of course, the music written by Kuchenek (1900-1991) is a chaotic array of sounds reminiscent of Schoenberg, and it is a difficult piece that requires all singers to have the ability to sing Wagner. It is a work that is truly a model of decadent music. Of course, this is the world premiere recording. Naxos Japan
