In Latvia, the kingdom of choral music, many people belong to choirs from an early age and receive musical training through singing. Even after they have grown up, harmony is created when people gather together, and the country is known for the "Great Choral Festival" held once every five years, where choirs from all over the country gather to sing in glorious harmony. The Latvian Radio Choir is one of the best professional choirs in the country. The Latvian Radio Chorus is one of the best professional choirs in the country, and the new release in the series by Kryava and the Latvian Radio Chorus, whose already released "Silvestrov: Choral Works" was nominated for the 2016 Gramophone Award, is a collection of religious works by Arvo Pärt (1935-), a popular composer in Japan. The works spanning almost 25 years, from 1988 to 2012, reveal Pärt's "ideal musical image" that he sought and pursued. Of course, by the late 1980s, the tintinnabuli style had been established and the music tended to be simplified, but as the years passed, the style was further refined and he returned to tonality while eliminating excesses. Truly beautiful unaccompanied choral music has also come to be loved as "healing music" that reaches directly to the listener's spirit. Naxos Japan
