Description:
Gergiev masterfully presides over the production! Video of the controversial "Rite of Spring" choreographed by Nijinsky at its premiere! The Rite of Spring" is choreographed by the same choreographer as the ballet that premiered on May 29, 1913. It was first performed by the Ballets Russes (Russian Ballet Company) led by Diaghilev at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, and the first performance was conducted by Montoux, which caused such a great commotion that some people were injured. The choreography was by Nijinsky, Diaghilev's treasured son, who became a celebrity in France in 1909 when he performed a wonderful dance in Versailles. He choreographed the piece despite having little experience in choreography or teaching. At the beginning of the dance, the dancers bent their legs inward, bowed their heads, and stamped their feet, a move that would have been unthinkable in the ballet world at the time, and Nijinsky's complex choreography required an enormous amount of rehearsal time. The audience that saw the performance on its opening day was also in turmoil, but this was the beginning of the 20th century ballet. The Rite of Spring" was so avant-garde that after eight performances it was dropped from the repertoire. Nijinsky did not leave the choreography in the dance score, and although "The Rite of Spring" was performed again once, it was soon sealed again. The choreography presented here was reconstructed by two dance researchers (Millicent Hudson and Kenneth Archer) in 1983, 70 years after the first performance, after reviewing a variety of sources. The Mariinsky Theatre's top dancers will dance to music conducted by the most charismatic conductor of the day, Gergiev. The long limbs of Alexandra Iosifiti in "The Rite of Spring" and the godlike movements of the elder Elena Bazhenova are impressive. The beauty of Kondaurova in "The Firebird" is simply mesmerizing. In terms of historical value, in terms of music, and in terms of the casting of the dancers, this is an impeccable performance! King International
