Description:
This is the first independent label of the Academy of Ancient Music, which was founded by Hogwood and has since changed music directors to Manze and Eger, but continues to lead the new ancient music performance. The concept of this album is to include important "symphonic" works up to the birth of the classical symphony. The music of this period was constantly experimenting and developing, with composers composing new music as their audiences demanded new music. Handel's "Saul," composed around the time of the overlap between opera and oratorio, is a truly dramatic symphony. Richter's symphony, composed before his service at the court of Mannheim, is a beautiful, neatly composed work that marks the moment of transition from Baroque to Classical music. The Stamitz is a representative of the Mannheim School, with its clear Rococo style. The symphony Mozart wrote at the age of eight to usher in a new era. This symphony represents Haydn's Sturm und Drang period.With the orchestration of the Esterházy Palace (3-3-2-1-1), typical of the period, Egger finds not only beauty and softness but also transparent textures, leading to musical momentum and excitement.
