This is a collection of the famous singing of Margaret Price (1941-2011), a soprano born in Wales, England, who dominated the world as a Mozart singer. She studied as a mezzo-soprano at Trinity College and made her debut as Cherubino in "Le nozze di Figaro" at the Welsh National Opera in 1962. She subsequently rose to fame throughout the United Kingdom. After switching to soprano, she sang mainly Mozart, but also lieder and concert singing, and in her later years, when her voice had deepened, she tried her hand at Verdi and R. Strauss. In his later years, when his voice deepened, he took on Verdi, R. Strauss, and other works, and his singing was wonderful. This album is the first release of all of her recordings and captures her clean and clear voice at the peak of her career from 1977 to 1991. Not only Mozart and Verdi, which were her forte, but also Cilea, Weber, Rossini, and Bellini can be heard on this album. Naxos Japan
