The debut film by Tom Moore, who gained attention in Japan with "Song of the Sea," surprised the world by being nominated for an Academy Award® for Best Animated Feature Film. The film, based on the Irish color of green, is hand-drawn in traditional 2D, with only a few exceptions, and was modeled after medieval paintings without the use of modern perspective. The vivid and beautiful Celtic patterns in The Book of Kells are kaleidoscopic in their movement. The high level of technique and the richness of expression in this work gives the impression of a first-class painting that transcends the realm of animation. The music is by Bruno Cret, who has composed numerous film scores, and KiLA, a leading Irish music group. While the massive construction of a wall around Kells Abbey continues in preparation for the Viking attack, Aidan, a renowned monk, escapes from Iona, Scotland, which was attacked by Vikings, carrying a "holy book" with him.The book contains hidden wisdom and power. In order to complete the Book of Kells, Brendan risked his life to go to an enchanted forest where mysterious creatures hide and dwell, in search of the fruit of a certain plant, the raw material for the ink. With the help of Ashlyn, a wolf nymph in the forest, Brendan brings back the berries safely, but the Vikings' attack is imminent on Kells. Can Brendan use the power of the book to shatter the darkness and bring back the light?
