VIDEOTAPEMUSIC’s full-length album *NOISEFACELANDSCAPE* is finally here! An analog release has been confirmed! In addition to the regular members of the band’s live lineup over the past few years—Emerson Kitamura (Key), Yuichi Ushioda (Gt), Izumi Matsui (Per), and mmm (Vo & Flute)—the album features Takahide Hashimoto KIDS (Sax), icchie (Trumpet), Oto Fukuhara (Lap Steel Guitar / from Shappo), and Korean Gyeonggi folk singer Lee Heemoon—this is truly a masterpiece you can dance to at a leisurely pace and lose yourself in while listening! The album kicks off with “1,000 Years Ago,” a track inspired by a home video of a trip to China in the ’90s—filmed by an unknown person and serendipitously discovered by VIDEOTAPEMUSIC—featuring the local music, scenery, and the filmmaker’s musings captured on film. It continues with the quintessential Oriental-flavored cha-cha-cha “Moonlight Cha-Cha,” a cover of Yo La Tengo’s “Our Way to Fall” sung by mmm, the Korean Peninsula folk song “Heung Taryeong” performed by Lee Heemoon—a Gyeonggi folk singer active in both Japan and Korea—and and “The Cuckoo Orchestra of 1990”—a staple of their early repertoire that samples a home video from their kindergarten days of the artist playing the cuckoo waltz on a keyboard harmonica to create a trans-temporal ensemble—are among the eight tracks included on this album. The album was mixed by Toshihiko Kasai, mastered and cut by Dave Cooley, and the cover art was created by Dohee Kwon, a Korean artist based in Thailand. This is one of the most anticipated releases of the year, so be sure to get your hands on the vinyl! It’s absolutely amazing!
