(From Yoshiko Ikuma's liner notes) Born in Tokyo. Graduated from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, Department of Instrumental Music, and completed the master's course at the same university. While a student, she won the third prize in the piano division of the 1991 Japan Music Competition. She received the "Ataka Prize" within the university. In 1993, upon graduation, she gave her debut recital at Tokyo Bunka Kaikan (sponsored by the Japan Federation of Musicians), won the 3rd Prize and the Special Jury Prize at the 1994 Maria Canals International Music Competition, and received a diploma at the 1995 Chopin International Piano Competition. In 1995, she received a diploma from the Chopin International Piano Competition. Since 1997, she has regularly given recitals at the Tokyo Bunka Kaikan, Kioi Hall, and other venues. Since 1997, she has regularly given recitals at Tokyo Bunka Kaikan, Kioi Hall, and other venues.He also works with ensembles for chamber music, two pianos, and song accompaniment, and has performed with many musicians in a wide range of repertoire. He has appeared on radio, in magazines, and in other media. In addition to appearing in various concerts throughout Japan, she also actively performs visiting concerts at hospitals and special-needs schools. Recently, she has been active in the "Music You Can Feel with Your Body" visiting concert series at schools for the deaf, and has released two CDs, "Joko Takemura Plays Schumann" (EMI), "Prayer - Gulda's Aria" (D.C.J.), "Vienna Night Party" (Columbia), and the King Record 100th anniversary of Gillock's birth In addition, several CDs of Gillock's song accompaniments have been released by King Records, including "Hajimete no Gillock" and "Kodomo no tame no album" (Album for Children). He has been described as "a pianist whose warm and transparent tone reflects the composer's spirit.
