Pulse, the title tune of the Stephen Mead x Royal Belgian Air Force Band, is a work by Thomas Doss. As the title suggests, the piece has a very rhythmical style, and Stephen Mead gives a superb performance without losing the rhythmical feel of the piece. Stephen Mead's performance is superb, drawing in and captivating all who hear it. In Philip Spark's "Pantomime," the lyrical first half is sung softly, with Stephen Mead's sweet euphonium tones echoing through the piece, and the second half is a masterful display of technique. Also on the program is Tom Davoren's "Rituals," a piece commissioned by Stephen Mead for the 2018 Jeju International Wind Music Festival, South Korea. Composed by combining two different folk music styles from Jeju and England and Wales, the piece is lyrical and also has a very strong sound. This CD is a must-have and must-listen item for euphonium lovers. The Royal Belgian Air Force Band's soloist is a real standout in this CD, and their performance is very solid.Stephen Meade and the Royal Belgian Air Force Band will give a wonderful performance.
