This is the 14th installment of the Masterpiece Series, a collection of challenging works published by the Belgian sheet music publisher Hafabra Music. The opening piece is Henry Mancini's "Overture to a Pops Concert". The opening of this piece is truly appropriate for the opening of the concert, and the lovely melody of the woodwinds, the dizzying melody, and the powerful brass harmonies appear alternately, drawing the audience into the concert. The title tune, "Pikes Peak," is a new work by Adam Gove, who is also popular in Japan for "Away Day" and other works. It was written about the Pikes Peak Cog Railway, which runs through Pikes Peak, one of the mountains in the Rocky Mountains of North America, and is said to be the "highest mountain railroad in the world. Adam Gove's work is filled with a sense of grandeur as the train climbs up the incline, passes through lush forests, and reaches the summit of the mountain with its huge rock faces looming out the windows and the sky as far as the eye can see.Other works arranged by Jose Sins, who is highly regarded for his high quality transcriptions and arrangements, include Richard Strauss' "Till Eulenspiegel" and George Gershwin's "Crazy for You Overture". A total of eight new works by Hardy Mertens, including "Requiem for a Future War". Performed by the world-class Belgian Giede, each work is highlighted in all its splendor, making this a collection of works that is full of charm.
