Description:

Japanese version of Faure's Requiem - Prayer music in beautiful Japanese - supervised by Keiichi Taniguchi Keiichi Taniguchi retired in 2013 after serving as an employee of Kobe City. He has been involved in conducting and performing with the Kobe Christian Choir, and has been expanding his religious music performance activities. In 2006, he gave a concert of Brahms' "German Requiem" with the Telemann Chamber Orchestra conducted by Takeharu Nobuhara at Kobe Shimbun Matsukata Hall. The Kobe City Mixed Chorus sang Fauré's Requiem at the "Requiem Evening" held after the 1995 Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake (sponsored by the city of Kobe), which was a great comfort to the people of the city. In 2022, a concert commemorating the publication was held at Kobe City's Seishin Chuo Hall, and the CD is a live recording of the concert. The CD is a live recording of the concert. The 16 members, all of whom are well-known as professional performers and soloists, returned to their original intentions in performing Japanese. The group was accompanied by the luxurious combination of the group's assistant conductor, Tsutomu Ota, who brought out the harmony and individuality of the singers, and Machiko Sawada, who had been the group's resident pianist for 33 years. The key to the piece is not only the Latin imagery, but also the unique Japanese sense of phrasing and the way the harmony resonates. The piano accompaniment arrangement by Machiko Sawada is carefully composed with reference to the Calmus score and piano accompaniment score, and beautifully brings out the rich orchestral and organ-like tones. This rare live recording may convey the warm feelings of the concert-goers as they are drawn into the fresh world of the words. Tobu Shoji Co.
