His mentor, Olivier Messiaen, prophesied, “You will achieve something someday.” Shinohara moved between the GRM in Paris (directed by Pierre Schaeffer), the Siemens Electronic Music Studio in Munich, Stockhausen’s studio in Cologne, and Darmstadt, creating works at the forefront of 20th-century sound art—a truly rare Japanese figure. The full scope of his work is finally being revealed. After the composer’s passing, an open-reel tape labeled in German as “Meine historischen Aufnahmen” (My Historical Recordings) was discovered in his home in Utrecht. It contained recordings of the composer performing his own works from his youth, numerous legendary performances, and newly discovered electronic music. This release presents to the world for the first time the tapes left behind by the composer, along with historical audio sources rescued from broadcast archives. Additionally, included as a bonus track is the revival performance of *Rencontre*, unsealed for the first time in 52 years by Mizuki Aida on August 9, 2024, at the Small Hall of the Tokyo Bunka Kaikan.
