Sigh-inducingly beautiful and rich in tone, Ueo puts his heart and soul into this collection of works by (and thought to be by) Louis Couperin, one of Japan's foremost harpsichordists. The two important manuscript notations that tell of these works are credited only to "Mr. Couperin," but various conjectures lead us to believe that they are Louis's. The "The Bells of Paris" was written by Louis Couperin in 1853. The Bells of Paris" was written by Louis for organ, and Ueo played it on a harpsichord with a damper (such a harpsichord did not exist in Louis' time). The softness of the sound is not lost, and a gorgeous tone is added to the piece. Ueo will play the piece written by Louis, who regarded the harpsichord (clavecin) as an extension of the lute, with all his heart and soul. The recording, which captures the richness of the instrument's sound, is also very attractive. ～Naoki Ueo - Profile: Graduated from the Department of Instrumental Music, Tokyo University of the Arts, majoring in piano. He won the "Basso continuo prize" in the melody instrument category at the 6th Old Music Competition in Yamanashi. He studied harpsichord under Mitsugu Yamada, Masaaki Suzuki, and Junsei Watanabe.After graduation, she moved to the Netherlands to study harpsichord with Gustaf Leonhardt and Annecke Outenbosch, and fortepiano with Stanley Hochland, graduating with soloist diplomas in each. In the Netherlands, he was an accompanist in the Department of Ancient Instruments at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Den Haag and a harpsichordist in the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra.
