Description:

An album of masterpiece arrangements for the next generation (including premieres and world premiere recordings). Japanese folk songs and children's songs performed by a well-matched ensemble will appeal not only to classical music fans but also to anyone who wants to listen. It is interesting to note that seven of the 15 pieces, including the clarinet version of "Zu Zu Zu Zu Korobashi" and the piano version of "Aranjuez Concerto," are premieres or first recordings. Naotaka Fukui (President of Musashino Academia Musicae and former President of Musashino Academia Musicae) ■Kyoko Kato (clarinet) Born in Kyoto. Completed graduate studies at Musashino Academia Musicae and its graduate school. Completed graduate studies at the Munich State University of Music. Obtained Meister Diploma. Studied clarinet under U. Rodenhäuser, K. Berkesch, Shoji Yamamoto, Yoshiomi Kuroiwa, and Hiroshi Yanase, and piano under Yoko Eguchi. While still a university student, he performed throughout Asia, the U.S., and Europe.In recent years, she has also been involved in playing ancient instruments, and has been active in introducing many buried masterpieces as a clarinet duo with Yokota Yoriko, a specially-appointed associate professor at Tokyo University of the Arts. Yoko Kawaguchi (Piano) graduated from Musashino Academia Musicae and its graduate school. Studied under Naotaka Fukui and Jeanne Eva Lichnevsky. She later studied performance technique at the State University of New York at Buffalo, chamber music with Yoko Iwabuchi, and aesthetics as a trainee at Kyoto University. With a wide repertoire ranging from classical to contemporary, he has performed all over the world. He has served as a board member of the Japan Society for Musical Expression and the Kyoto Musicians' Club. He has long been involved in musical activities rooted in society and the community. Awarded the 32nd Todo Music Prize (Kyoto), and professor emeritus at Kyoto University of Education.
