Description:
~The Rich Emotional Depth Shared by Kishi and Kino~ Conductor Kazuhiko Komatsu Koichi Kishi (1909–1937) was a musical genius who left a significant mark on the history of Western music in Japan, though he died at the young age of 28. Moved by the playing of the legendary violinist Elman, he took up the violin, studied in Europe three times, and became the first person in Japan to purchase a Stradivarius, which caused quite a stir. In 1930, he studied under Hindemith and Furtwängler and transitioned to a career as a composer and conductor. The violin sonata featured in this recording is a long-lost sonata that was discovered in 2001 at the Koichi Kishi Memorial Room at Konan Gakuen in Ashiya City. The performers are Masayuki Kino, solo concertmaster of the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, and his sister, Mami Kino, who is active in Paris. Tobu Land System
