This album, *In the Groove*, recorded in 1973, marks the next step in that evolution. They bring the sharpness of jazz to the forefront, blend in rock to create an edge, and inject funk to exude power and elasticity. They created a robust yet sophisticated, utterly “cool” sound that cannot be fully captured by existing genres like jazz-rock, jazz-funk, or fusion. This album has been described as a response to The Crusaders, a band Jiro Inagaki was reportedly paying close attention to at the time. Their aim was spot on. With this album, Soul Media achieved a "refined black feeling" and set course for their ultimate destination: *Funky Stuff*. Text by Yusuke Ogawa (UNIVERSOUND/DEEPJAZZREALITY) ★Common Specifications for Both Titles★ "Made in Japan" quality that has captured the world’s attention. We have lavishly adopted "uncolored virgin vinyl," which completely eliminates coloring agents such as carbon that affect sound quality. Using only high-purity straight polyvinyl chloride as the raw material and increasing the record weight to 180g, we have achieved stable rotation and a rich soundstage. This "Pure Vinyl/180g Heavyweight" specification allows you to fully enjoy a refined sound image.
