Kumiko’s voice resonates with a “chanson-esque” quality that transcends countries, eras, and genres This is the second installment of a concept album series in which chanson singer Kumiko aims to deliver songs from various genres to listeners with a “chanson-esque” touch through her own voice. Kumiko has actively covered the legendary chanson singer Yukari Kaneko over the past few years. She has newly recorded "Reunion," Kaneko’s signature song and a hit chanson that shone at the end of the Showa era, as well as "Ballad of Love," the main theme from Kadokawa’s first film, *The Family of the Dog God*, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year—a version sung by Yukari Kaneko that has garnered high praise. The album also features covers of classic folk songs, such as “Time Flows On,” which she has performed at Miyuki Nakajima tribute concerts, and “Imjin River,” whose 2022 version—featuring Kumiko—generated significant buzz. Additionally, it includes “The Clown’s Pearl,” a new song left behind by the late Toshi, known as the composer of “Flower Fairy Tale” by Dark Ducks, with whom Kumiko interacted in her later years. This album showcases Kumiko’s voice and artistry, which transcend time and genre to touch listeners’ hearts in a “chanson-esque” way.
