Isao Tomita's dream of performing "Dr. Coppelius" was realized in competition with Hatsune Miku. Long-awaited release of the video of the premiere performance! On May 5, 2016, Isao Tomita, composer and world-renowned synthesizer artist, passed away at the age of 84. Until the moment of his death, he had been dreaming of performing a work that he had continued to create. It was called "Doctor Coppelius. Mr. Tomita had left behind most of the original story and music ideas. The story is a large scale story filled with "dreams and hopes for the universe," which Mr. Tomita had been pursuing for many years, and unfolds with an orchestra, synthesizer, and ballet. The work was handed over to the project members who had been working with him before his death, and the first performance was held on November 11 and 12, 2016. NHK has recorded the premiere on video, which was aired on NHK BS Premium on January 29 and released on blu-ray. The sound was newly remastered by Columbia. The video conveys the realism of the venue perfectly.
