Progressive metal giants Dream Theater have released their 16th original album with the news of Mike Portnoy's (Dr.) surprise return to the band. The band's fans have long awaited the return of Portnoy, who was one of the founders of the band, a peerless performer, and the core of the band in terms of composition and arrangement along with John Petrucci (G). The long-awaited return of Portnoy, who had been the core of the band with John Petrucci (G) during the band's first two albums, Petrucci's solo work in 2008 and Liquid Tension Experiment in 2009, was a thawing session. The first single "Night Terror," which was distributed in advance, is a powerful song that embodies the band's chemistry as it should be, with a terrific ensemble based on Portnoy's creative and superb drumming that unfolds in a dark, heavy, and unpredictable manner.
