Arturo Toscanini left an enormous mark on the history of 20th century music. In the first half of his life, he worked mainly with European and American opera houses, and in the second half of his life, as a concert conductor, he performed a wide range of repertoire at an extremely high standard. The NBC Symphony Orchestra from 1937 is one of the earliest successful examples of media mixing in the art of music. Aida" marked the dramatic debut of the 19-year-old Toscanini as a conductor in 1896.
