Description:
Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Woodstock Festival, the re-release of the film that captures Jimi Hendrix on stage, which will remain in many people's memories, is now available for purchase. The Woodstock Music & Art Fair, as it was officially called, was held in Bethel, New York for three days from August 15 to 17, 1969. Jimi was scheduled to perform on the last day of the fair, but due to inclement weather and delays, he did not appear until around 8:30 AM on the morning of the 18th. The crowd of over 400,000 had already numbered only around 50,000, but Jimi left a famous and vivid impression on the stage for the rest of his life. Since the Experience had already disbanded, the band that took the stage was Gypsy Sun & Rainbows, formed with Mitch Mitchell (dr), Billy Cox (b), Larry Lee (g), and two percussionists. Although there are some who disapprove of this band formation, what unfolded was an outstanding performance, especially the American national anthem "The Star-Spangled Banner," which was shredded and reconstructed by the intense guitar sound using effectors, expressing in sound the situation of the United States as it continued the Vietnam War, and eventually becoming a legendary performance that symbolized the era of the 1960s.
