Cheap Thrill" was released in 1968 after Janis Joplin's appearance at the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967, which made her name known to rock fans. Although under the name of Big Brother & Holding Company, Janis Joplin was a dominant presence with her powerful rock vocals that blended R&B, blues, and jazz feelings. Her major label debut, "Cheap Thrills," features such masterful performances as "Summertime," "Piece of My Heart," and "I Want the One I Love. Fifty years later, the masterpiece "Cheap Thrill" contains many additional bonus tracks, and we look back at the masterpieces of the sixties, half a century later.
