This new recording by the brilliant Christian Järvi, the second son of Nämé Järvi and brother of Paavo Järvi, is an anniversary album to commemorate the 80th birthday (October 3) of Steve Reich, the founder of minimal music. The album was inspired by Reich's "Composer in Residence" with the MDR Symphony Orchestra in Leipzig, and it has taken three years since then to record this album. The orchestral versions of "Daniel Variations" and "You Are (Variations)" were recorded for the first time in the world, and "Clapping Music" features performances by Reich himself and Christian. The two variations are my masterpieces, and this album contains very beautiful performances of them," Reich said in praise of the album. Duets" and "Four Sections" were performed by Christian with the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra last May and made a strong impression on the audience. Blu-spec CD2 2CD set
