The latest live album from Peter Case, the charismatic figure who pioneered West Coast punk and power pop in the 1970s with bands like The Nerves and The Prim Souls, and who has since been nominated for three Grammy Awards after transitioning to a career as a folk and blues singer-songwriter! It features classics from his Prim Souls era, such as “A Million Miles Away,” as well as songs spanning his 50-year career, from his early solo work to his latest releases. The album captures two consecutive sold-out nights at the legendary Los Angeles folk venue, The McCabe’s, in April 2025. Peter Case was born in Buffalo, New York, in 1954. He began making music as a teenager and moved to San Francisco in 1973 to perform as a street musician. In 1976, he formed The Nerves with Jack Lee and Paul Collins. They gained popularity as a leading figure in West Coast punk and scored a hit with “Hanging on the Telephone.” The song gained worldwide recognition after being covered by Blondie. After the band broke up in 1979, he formed the power pop band The Primsouls. He released two albums on labels such as Geffen, with 1982’s “A Million Miles Away” becoming a major hit. In 1986, he began his career as a solo singer-songwriter, releasing *Peter Case*, produced by T-Bone Burnett. The album, which leaned heavily into folk and blues, was highly acclaimed, and the track “Old Blue Car” earned him a Grammy nomination. He has continued to release albums consistently, with 2007’s *Let Us Now Praise Sleepy John* also earning a Grammy nomination. He continues to tour and record energetically to this day.
