The latest release from Dale Watson, a living legend of the country music world who, for 40 years, has championed his unique “Ameripolitan” style—spanning honky-tonk, outlaw country, Western swing, and rockabilly—with the rebellious spirit and passion of Texas! With his rugged, powerful, and piercing vocals, he delivers a full range of original songs—from high-energy tracks to beautiful ballads—that reflect on life’s struggles and losses. Dale Watson was born in Alabama in 1962 and raised in North Carolina. He moved to Texas in 1977. Influenced by his father and older brother, he began writing songs at age 12 and performed with country bands throughout his teens. He made his first recording in 1984. In 1988, he moved to LA and played as the house band at the legendary Palomino Club. In 1990, he released tracks like “One Tear at a Time.” He moved back to Austin, Texas, and made his album debut in 1995 with *Cheatin’ Heart Attack* on the High Tone label. In 1996, he released *Blessed Or Damned*, and in 1997, *I Hate These Songs*; his old-school style, which rejected commercial country music, was widely praised. However, he put his musical career on hold following the death of his girlfriend. Since his comeback in 2006, he has appeared regularly at venues like the Grand Ole Opry as a leading figure in the Austin music scene. A biopic was released in 2007, and in 2012, he starred in a musical by Stephen King and John Mellencamp. Since then, he has released over 30 albums in styles such as honky-tonk, rockabilly, and Western swing. He has championed “Ameripolitane”—a unique genre that challenges mainstream Nashville—and founded an award of the same name.
