A solo album by Jay Buchanan, the acclaimed vocalist who fronted the Grammy-nominated band Rival Sons for many years and appeared in Bruce Springsteen's 2025 film! Featuring original songs rooted in soul, blues, gospel, country, and other roots music, as well as bold covers of Leonard Cowen. Produced by Grammy winner and longtime ally Dave Cobb. Other top Nashville musicians such as J.D. Shimmo and Leroy Powell also participate. Jay Buchanan was born in California in 1975. He released his first solo album, Violence, in 1999. He then released the album All Understood in 2004 as the band Buchanan, earning high praise as a rootsy soul-rock singer. In 2008, he formed Rival Sons, and in 2009, they independently released their first album, Before The Fire. The hit song "Torture" led to them supporting AC/DC and Black Sabbath on tour and appearing at many hard rock festivals.Following that, he consistently released albums like 2011's 'Pressure & Time' and 2016's 'Hollow Bones', gaining popularity through reverse imports from Europe to America. Then, in 2019, his major-label debut 'Feral Roots' earned him two Grammy nominations. His latest album is 2023's "Darkfighter." As a solo artist, he has collaborated with Jason Isbell, Barry Gibb, and Brandi Carlile. Recently, he also appeared in Bruce Springsteen's film "Deliver Me from Nowhere," drawing significant attention.
