Marion James, the Queen of the Blues of North Nashville with Jimi Hendrix and Billy Cox since the early 60's, is re-releasing two of the few albums she left behind, 2003's "Essence" and 2012's "Northside Soul" (2-in-1). Japan only). Featuring some of Nashville's top session men, including Jack Pearson (G) and Rhys Wynans (Key), formerly of the Allmans, the album focuses on her highly accomplished originals rooted in blues, soul, funk, and gospel. Marion James, an R&B singer born in Nashville in 1934, began singing in clubs on Jefferson Street in North Nashville in the early 1960s and gained popularity. In 1966, she debuted with her own song "That's My Man" on the Exelo label, which became a top 10 hit. She continued to release singles such as "Find Out What (You Want)" and "Don't Come Around" and performed mainly live until the mid-1980s.In 1994, he released "Marion James & The Hypnotics" on Appaloosa and performed with Rufus Thomas, Gatemouth Brown, and others. In 2000, he released "Northside Soul" on Erasoul, which debuted at No. 10 on Living Blues.
