Description:
The latest collaboration album by the Grammy-winning pianist John Beasley and the Frankfurt Radio Big Band, led by another Grammy regular, Jim McNeely! The theme of this album is the legendary group Return to Forever, and it is truly an album endorsed by Chick Corea, who sadly passed away in 2021, and who personally handed over the score after hearing this project from Beasley before his death! Of course, this is not a mere covers album, but rather a collection of RTF classics newly reconstructed for the big band with well-thought-out arrangements! John Beasley is a jazz pianist, arranger, and producer born in Shreveport, Louisiana in 1958. He learned piano, guitar, saxophone, trumpet, and oboe in his teens. In the 70's, he was based in L.A. and played in various bands such as Sergio Mendes, Freddie Hubbard, Dianne Reeves, Steely Dan, Chaka Khan, and many others. In 1992, he made his solo debut with "Cauldron" on Windham Hill.Since then, he has released more than 10 albums, including "Letter To Herbie" (2008), "Positootly" (2009), and an album with the big band Monkestra, for which he received 12 Grammy nominations and won twice. He has also composed music for TV shows such as "Star Trek" and films such as "The Shawshank Redemption" and the 007 series. The Frankfurt Radio Big Band, a 17-piece jazz orchestra, has been conducted by Jim McNeely since 2011 and has collaborated with Beasley several times, this being the fourth time.
