A complete change from his previous Grammy-winning acoustic album "Lower Than Low", Bobby Rush delivers the inimitable Southern funk-blues that only he can deliver! It's a true crossover blues that retains its rawness and commercial side, while also maintaining its blackness and whiteness. I admire the confidence with which he sings, "I'm the one who put the funk in the blues. Bobby Rush was born in Louisiana in 1933. He made his solo debut in 1964 with the single "Someday. After that, he released singles on Checker, Galaxy, and many other labels, and released his first album "Rush Hour" in 1979. Since then, he has released albums energetically from the 1980s to the present, and has been active as the king of the chitlin' circuit.In recent years, he has been particularly active, receiving a Grammy nomination in 2000, induction into the Blues Hall of Fame in 2006, and two Blues Music Awards in 2015. In the same year, he also appeared in the documentary film "I AM THE BLUES," which garnered much attention. He then received his long-awaited Grammy for Best Traditional Blues Album for his 2016 release, "Porcupine Meat"; 2019's "Sittin' on Top of the Blues" was also nominated for a Grammy; and 2021's acoustic work, " Lower Than Low" earned him his second Grammy.
