Clydey King, the "diva of the back chorus," has sung for Ray Charles, Motown, Humble Pie, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Joe Cocker and many others in the 60's and 70's on their classic albums and live performances. Her debut album is now being re-released! Backed by Billy Preston, David T. Walker and other top-notch artists, her soulful and funky voice delivers classic songs by Otis Redding, William Bell, The Beatles and more! A must-listen for soul fans! Born in Dallas, Texas in 1943, Clydey King moved to LA and recorded "A Casual Look" for the first time in 1956 as Little Clydey and the Teens. In the 1960s, he released many singles as a solo artist and as a member of the Meadowlarks. This was followed by "Brown Sugar" in 1973 and "Rushing to Meet You" in 1976.He then became a popular session singer when he was chosen to sing backing vocals for Humble Pie, and as Venetta Fields, Shirley Matthews and the Blackberries, the Supremes, BB King, the Rolling Stones, Steely Dan, Bob Dylan, Joe Cocker, Leonard Skinard, The Doors, and many others. However, he had no significant activity since the 1980s and died of illness in Monrovia, California in January 2019.
