The first official release from Candid is the previously unreleased debut album by Teri Lynn Carrington, a top female drummer who has won numerous music awards, including a Grammy, and who independently produced her debut album in 1981 when she was 16 years old! It is an astonishing soundtrack that shows the greatness of this prodigious drummer who received a full scholarship to Berklee College of Music when she was only 11 years old. Produced by his father, Sonny, he battles majestically with George Coleman on saxophone, Kenny Barron on piano, Buster Williams on bass, and other wunderkinds. Teri Lynn Carrington was born in Massachusetts in 1965. She began playing drums at the age of 7, influenced by her father Sonny, a saxophone player. Her talent quickly blossomed, and at the age of 11 she received a full scholarship to Berklee College of Music. At the age of 18, he moved to New York City at the urging of his teacher Jack DeJohnette, where he performed with Stan Getz, David Sanborn, Cassandra Wilson, and others. In 1988, he joined Wayne Shorter's album "Joy Ryder" and became a nominated artist.He then moved to LA and released his first leader album "Real Life Story" in 1989, which was nominated for a Grammy. Since then, he has consistently released new albums, including "The Mosaic Project" in 2011, "Money Jungle" in 2013, and his latest album, "New Standards, Vol. 1" in 2022, which won a Grammy. He has also played on albums by Stevie Wonder, Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis, Dianne Reeves, and countless others.
