With a gentle, simple voice and humorous lyrics, these two narrative albums are truly hidden gems that remind us of the origins of American folk music. Loudon Wainwright III is a singer-songwriter born in North Carolina in 1946. He is the father of musicians Rufus, Martha, and Lucy, and the ex-husband of Kate McGarrigle, and his musical family began in the late 1960s, debuting in 1970 with his first album "Loudon Wainwright III" on Atlantic Records. After releasing "Album II" in 1971, he moved to Columbia and released his masterpiece "Album III" in 1972.His single "Dead Skunk" from the album reached No. 16 in the U.S. and made his name known. Since then, he has released more than 20 albums on various labels at his own pace. His humorous lyrics and performances are highly acclaimed, and he has appeared in many films as an actor, and has been called the Woody Allen of the folk world. He has been nominated for three Grammy Awards and finally won Best Traditional Folk Album in 2010 for "High Wide & Handsome: The Charlie Poole Project.
