The Chosen Maiden, a masterpiece of Cluytens and the Paris Conservatory Orchestra, is now available for the first time on SACD. The Chosen Maiden", a masterpiece of the Paris Conservatory Orchestra, is the first recording of the "Chosen Maiden" by Cluytens and the Paris Conservatory Orchestra, which was licensed from the INA (French National Institute of Audiovisual Research) and made into a CD. This is a limited edition. It features a one-day concert by Cluytens and the Conservatoire de Paris. The two Debussy pieces have never been officially recorded by Cluytens, and "The Chosen Maiden" in particular is considered to be the first recording of this work in the repertoire. The Ravel works are also interesting to compare with previously released performances. The color of each instrument is rich, and there are moments that are reminiscent of Munsch, with the intense excitement that only a live performance can provide. Although in mono, the sound quality has been carefully mastered to allow the listener to fully enjoy the sounds of this era. Soprano Janine Michaux, who sings "The Chosen Maiden," is a specialist in French music, having studied at the Paris Conservatory. She has sung most of the soprano roles in famous French operas and has been active in many concerts. "The Chosen Maiden" is one of her specialties, and you can hear her beautiful singing that perfectly captures the essence of the music.The regular CD version (ALT-501/2) was selected as a specially selected disc in the March 2022 issue of Record Geijutsu.
