Although this album was previously reissued on CD, this version was remastered specifically for LP, with an analog master tape created before the disc was cut. Careful production by skilled technicians has captured the unique character of the LP format. Enjoy this legendary performance by Ančerl and the Concertgebouw Orchestra in excellent stereo sound. This is the first-ever LP release in memory of Klebers, the Concertgebouw’s renowned concertmaster, who passed away on May 2, 2018. Krebbers, who led the Concertgebouw’s string section—praised as “velvety”—delivers a powerful and dignified solo performance of Beethoven that is truly profound. The B-side is another superb performance: Dvořák’s Symphony No. 8, recorded live on the same day. Here, Ančerl truly shines, delivering a soulful performance brimming with passionate empathy.
