Description:

Smetacek's masterful performance by those who know him, and what an amazing performance! The Czech singing is also hot and powerful Shostakov's "Mayday"! Beautiful singing and heart-warming Prokofiev's performance are also outstanding! The fourth volume of the Smetacek series is a collection of Russian symphonies of the 20th century! Shostakovich No. 3, which creates a powerful drama with magnificent tension, despite its avant-garde conception, is a real gem! The fast and furious pace, the decisive development, and the closing chorus sung in high spirits in Czech are also very moving. Prokofiev No. 7, on the other hand, is full of beautiful songs, and the melodies are spun and played one after the other with a thrilling sense of rhythm that makes one's heart pound. Smetacek, who has systematically taken up 20th century works, turned his attention to "May Day" in 1974, during the composer's lifetime, because the music of the Russian avant-garde, which had come to an end due to the oppression of the regime, had been "Mayday" in the 1960s and 1970s. Smetacek's decision to turn his attention to "May Day" in 1974, during the composer's lifetime, was probably made with the intention of actively reevaluating the music of the Russian avant-garde, which had come to an end due to repression by the regime. The fact that the lyrics of the finale are in Czech is also imagined to have been intended to help Czech audiences better understand the composer's aims. The performance is full of centripetal force and power, and is a masterful demonstration of Smetacek's specialty in works with chorus.
