The sound quality is excellent, and the content more than adequately conveys the chemistry and high potential of this duo. The orchestral technique is very high, but this is an impressive performance that makes full use of soft tones and deep breathing, which is a far cry from a performance that shows off technical skills. The opening trumpet sings beautifully, and the gently arcing, arching phrasing is mesmerizing. However, the singing is not thick, but well controlled, transparent, and lucid. The balance of each movement is excellent, and the adagietto is exceptionally beautiful.
