The Sapporo Symphony Orchestra and its honorary conductor, Radomir Elischka, who have given numerous masterful performances, completed their project of performing the complete Brahms symphonies in March 2017. The last piece featured was No. 1. An album recording of that special concert is now available. The performance is an overwhelming masterpiece, full of youthful energy. After the fresh, clear, and limpid Mendelssohn and Schubert, the main Brahms piece is a masterly performance of music of great scale that combines effervescent passion with a high level of dignity. This is a moving disc to be savored with gratitude to the great maestro. The other numbers of the Brahms project by Elischka/Fuda Symphony Orchestra are ALT-304 (No. 3), ALT-319 (No. 2), and ALT-330 (No. 4), all of which have been released to great acclaim.
