In recent years, the ensemble has expanded its repertoire to include a wide range of music. This album features arrangements of masterpieces from the Italian Baroque. The two pieces arranged by Respighi, Vitali's Chaconne and Tartini's Pastorale, are rich in discovery and densely performed. Vitari: Chaconne is an orchestral accompaniment version with organ. With a melancholy solo and an accompaniment that heightens the sense of sadness, it offers a melancholy side that is at odds with the New Italian Ensemble's usual brilliant tone. Vivaldi: The six cello sonatas are arranged for cello and string orchestra, and the New Italian Ensemble's characteristic bright sound can be enjoyed.In December 2006, their Christmas concert will be held in various places in Japan (December 2006 information).
