Treasure Ark! A series featuring select high-quality live recordings. Capturing the June 6, 1995 live performance at Toronto's RPM Club, Canada, from the grueling tour supporting their second album, The Bends! Although the single "Creep" from their first album 'Pablo Honey' was a huge hit, the album itself received lukewarm reviews. Radiohead struggled to gain traction within the new wave of guitar bands at the time. However, after the release of 'The Bends', they meticulously toured the album, turning it into a long-selling success and finally earning critical acclaim. That tour was quite grueling. Beginning in Vancouver, Canada in February 1995, they frequently traveled between North America and Europe, opening for acts like R.E.M. and Soul Asylum. By the time it ended in North America in December, they had played over 150 shows in a single year.The band seemed to be quite exhausted, with Thom Yorke collapsing on stage, Johnny Greenwood suffering from ear problems, and even their equipment being stolen, leading to the cancellation of some shows. In June, between these incidents, they made their second visit to Japan, playing eight shows from Fukuoka to Sapporo. This live performance was broadcast on Canadian FM radio shortly before their visit to Japan. This was before their breakthrough album OK Computer, and Tom Yorke's singing style is somewhat uncertain within the simple band sound, but their sense of melody stands out even more than on the album, and listening to this after knowing them as big names feels very fresh. It is a valuable record from the era when they were trying to make a hit.
