Compilation of live recordings of Faces for BBC in the early 70's! Quality recordings of the band's true nature as a rough rock'n'roll band! Live recordings for broadcast before the members who would later take the lead in the rock scene made their breakthrough! The three members of Small Faces, Ronnie Lane, Ian McLagan, and Kenny Jones, joined by Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood from the Jeff Beck Group after Steve Marriott left the band. The band made its single debut in 1969 when it was formed, and released its first album, First Step, in 1970. The recordings here are a compilation of studio live recordings made for the BBC during the band's early years. The Faces were a favorite of BBC's famous DJ, John Peel, and they appeared on many BBC shows and left many recordings after 1971, but the fact that they focused on the early years of the band is a good thing. In fact, "First Step" is not yet in its full glory considering the members' later fame, and it is not so highly acclaimed, but how about this live recording?All of the members have already had professional careers for several years, and they generate the right amount of heat and attraction in a live setting, and the band's true potential is beautifully brought out, making it a great listening experience. Rod's concurrent solo career would later cause cracks in the band, but here all members are on equal footing, and the band's appeal as a band can be fully appreciated. Included on this disc are two John Peel "Top Gear" performances, the Dave Lee Travis Show, a Sunday Concert, and, as an added bonus, a recording of the Top Gear Carol Singers' Christmas project. The sound quality is excellent, and this is a must-have for all rock fans.
