Bat McGrace and Don Potter, a folk duo active in New York City in the late 1960s, released the album "Introducing" (produced by Barry Kornfield in 1969), followed by their respective solo albums, both of which leaned toward the genre of pre-AOR with an urban flavor based on an acoustic sound. The band's solo albums each leaned toward a genre that could be described as pre-AOR, with an urban flavor based on an acoustic sound. This is McGrace's third solo album (1980), following "From the Blue Eagle" (1977) and "The Spy" (1978), and was recorded in England during a visit to Scotland in October 1980. After the pre-AOR sound of the previous two albums, McGrace once again shifts to a folky/roots-oriented sound with an emphasis on acoustic sensibilities. The heart-felt vocals are a perfect match with the soft backing sound, and the occasional use of a good-timey mandolin and 12-string guitar adds depth to the sound, creating a sound that is hard to find.A little surprise for English folk fans is the fiddle of master Dave Swarbrick (ex-Fairport Convention). Production is by Mark Ellington.
