Description:
A new kind of soundscape that extends serene piano music with a hip-hop approach The Vernon Spring's latest work, which is gaining attention in the contemporary ambient scene Sam Beste, aka The Vernon Spring, is an artist, composer, pianist, and producer born in North London, UK and currently residing in Brighton. The long-awaited new album "Under a Familiar Sun", full of potential for a big leap forward, is finally released, as indicated by its co-release on Ólafur Arnalds' OPIA Community label, RVNG Intl, and Impartiment, Under a Familiar Sun has the potential to be a major draw on the ambient scene in 2025. In 2008, at the tender age of 17, she was selected to be the pianist for the late Amy Winehouse's world tour, and her work with her has since included MF DOOM, Kendrick Lamar producer Sounwave, Beth Orton, Joy Crookes, Kano, and Gabriels, She paved the way for collaborations with Matthew Herbert, Beth Orton, Joy Crookes, Kano, Gabriels, and Matthew Herbert. In his mid-20s he formed the alternative soul trio Hejira, founded the independent label Lima Limo, and in 2019 launched his solo project The Vernon Spring. Combining a jazz background with contemporary electronic production, he established an ethereal and delicate piano music that is neither jazz nor post-classical, and his 2021 debut album, A Plane Over Woods, was a long seller. Later, his album "What's Going On," a unique interpretation of Marvin Gaye's classic "What's Going On," released only on LP, also won critical acclaim. His latest work, Under a Familiar Sun, is a testament to the breadth and depth of his artistic evolution. It is the result of a long period of compositional and process-based experimentation, and marks a shift from his previous improvisational productions to a more complex approach.Working with producer Iko Niche on the album, The Vernon Spring's unique piano compositions are used throughout the album, while incorporating hip-hop influences and sampling techniques to create an unprecedented soundscape. The Vernon Spring's unique piano compositions run throughout the album, creating an unprecedented soundscape. Artwork is by Eric Timothy Carlson, the visual artist responsible for Bon Iver's "22, A Million" and "i,i". Visualizers for the tracks are by visual artists Aaron Anderson and Eric Timothy Carlson, who also worked with Carlson on Bon Iver's "i,i".
